Sonoma instaling1/16/2024 If it is not software then it is hardware, in that case take it in for assessment. Not sure how you can you separate the two I do not know. Clearly a buggy OS, all apps up to date.ĭon't point at apps, please. Issues started after installing Sonoma on my Mac Book Pro (Apple M1 Max, 16 inch). Sonoma keeps crashing frequently and randomly. Somehow, this time Apple messed up making sure it plays well together. It's their hardware - the M1 is not "obsolete". Apple does extensive pre-release testing these days - we no longer have had to wait for word of safe versions. Users should not have to do anything to fix it, except install the patch Apple provides to remedy the mistake. When multiple users apply the standard Apple OS upgrade and experience the same extreme behavior, this is Apple‘s fault. The adoption of the UNIX kernel protects the OS from rogue applications. A really simple app programming error could result in it eating away at the RAM, chomping through the display memory and the audio card until the computer would give that cheary sound that meant it was hosed and then it would reboot. The joke goes on as long as you like, and ends with someone seeing the man walking down the street observing that he must have a really good tailor for making the suit fit so well given the man’s obvious severe physical disability. The tailor says he needs to shift his weight to fix the problem which leads to a sleeve appearing off-balance, which the tailor insist now requires another shift of position. Thanks! There is an old joke about a guy who is proud of his new tailored suit, until a friend points out that one leg is riding high. FYI I attached the crash log (after replacing the old file with the fix). The app keeps crashing upon launch like before. Just to notify that the recent interim fix on Sonoma and SPSS 29.0.1.1 didn't work. Move the 'libplatdep.dylib' file to the "SPSS Statistics.app/Contents/lib" folder you saw previously.Go to the folder created when you extracted the Interim Fix Zip file.Move this file someplace else (like to your Desktop).Drill into the Contents and lib folders to find the 'libplatdep.dylib' file.Right click the SPSS Statistics.app bundle and select "Show package contents".Your task will be to find the old file under the SPSS Statistics application bundle. The interim fix contains a new 'libplatdep.dylib' file. Unzip the interim fix and follow the ReadMe.txt inside.Download the 29.0.1.1-IM-S29STATC-MAC-IF001 interim fix.Perform a fresh install of Statistics 29.0.1.1 using the Fixpack above.Completely purge your system of IBM SPSS Statistics using this Technote. The link you want will be at the very bottom of the page. Since I really have no idea of the history of your installation, I'd suggest a clean reinstall using the SPSS Statistics 29.0.1.1 Fixpack. Now that Apple is releasing Mac OS Sanoma, do you know when IBM will update SPSS backend so it works on the newest updated OS?Īt what point in replacing the 'libplatdep.dylib' file do you think you've become hung up? It did not ask me to "ALLOW" for protected locations. I have the same issue as the original poster and tried a clean re-install as suggested and it did not work. Anyone else having the same problem? Or can someone provide me some solution? I have checked the solution provided by IBM but to no avail. Selecting the 'OK' button results in no change and selecting 'Cancel' results in the window closing but the IBM SPSS Statistics will quit too. The only response options are 'OK' and 'Cancel'. Upon first launch, SPSS Statistics and the OS will often request the user to "ALLOW" access to these protected locations.Īfter updating the system, the 'Server Login' and 'Local computer' window pops up every time I open SPSS. I suggest a clean re-install of IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0.1.0 using the steps and script file in this technote. In the past, macOS has introduced additional security features, specifically in the users $HOME path and perhaps in the /Applications path as well. I'll go on past experience with macOS updates. I don't have access to a computer running the Sonoma beta. Subject: Can not use SPSS on macOS Sonoma Beta
